An Alternative America First Energy Plan

The Trump Administration recently posted “An America First Energy Plan” on the White House website, calling for increased fossil fuel production and rollback of environmental regulations to decrease energy costs, grow the economy, and increase energy independence.

These goals can also be achieved, on a much more sustainable basis, through increasing the development of renewable energy, which is cost competitive in many markets.  Americans do not have to choose between clean power and a healthy economy.

While the sectors consuming the most fossil fuel are power generation, transportation and building/industrial heating, the lowest hanging fruit for rapid decarbonization is in the power sector.
